Vorteq acquires California Division of Material Sciences Corp.

Vorteq Coil Finishers, a provider of coil coating services for steel and aluminum products, has acquired the California coil coating assets of Material Sciences Corp. Located near Los Angeles, MSC-LA manufactures specialty coated metals and offers slitting, embossing, and packaging services.

According to the company, the acquisition complements its Vorteq-Pacific operation in Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., adding capabilities for wider-width and heavier-gauge materials and allowing for value-added secondary processing.

This is Vorteq’s sixth add-on acquisition in the last eight years and the third acquisition since 2022. With this addition, Vorteq operates 11 continuous coil coating lines in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Illinois, Tennessee, California, and Mexico City, offering narrow coil coating, printing, slitting, embossing, and laminating services.
